HUMANLANDSCAPES
Interpreting the Human Form Photography and text by Phillip
Miller Poetry by Peter Crane Foreword by Rulan Tangen
The
images come from an awareness of the human body to the spiritual
and natural forces surrounding it. What is the character
of the feminine, and what does it mean to be human? The
images and poetry lead us through a journey of discovery
to celebrate both the physical and spiritual parts of the
self. This unique book brings together rich images and text
in a tapestry of visual and emotional rewards.
California
physician Philip Miller’s love of photography started
in an overland tour of Africa, covering 6 months time and
10,000 miles of mostly dirt roads. The challenge of capturing
a fleeting moment of time in an image has been his passion
ever since. The American Southwest with its sculptured canyons,
rustling streams, and timeless beauty has also become a
narrative told through pictures. Miller’s images have been
published in several books and shown in numerous art shows
in California and the Southwest. Peter Crane is a
San Jose poet and journalist who has lived in Northern California
for over thirty years. He has written extensively about
San Jose and the Santa Clara Valley and his work has appeared
in both local and national publications. Rulan Tangen
is artistic director of Dancing Earth - Indigenous Contemporary
Dance Creations. She is a dancer, choreographer, and
dance teacher who lives in the unique beauty of the high
desert Southwest.
