ROSIE SANDIFER
Language of Art
Rosie Sandifer
Introduction by Robin Salmon
Foreword by Tuck Langland

Robin Salmon observes that Sandifer sculpts the mundane, elevating it to a special level in her slice-of-life depictions. Tuck Langland sums up her work as, “portraying the joy of life, revealing a perspective which is in stark contrast to those artists who see only misery, pain, and suffering.” He acknowledges her unusual life as a hybrid artist. “While most sculptors draw, few are serious about painting. This straddling the world of two and three dimensions is rare.” It is her language of art.

Robin Salmon has been on the staff of Brookgreen Gardens, Pawleys Island, South Carolina, since 1975 as historian, editor, curator of collections, and vice president of academic affairs. Tuck Langland is a retired professor of sculpture, Indiana University, South Bend, and a sculptor whose works are in collections, museums, and public plazas across the U.S. and Europe. He is the author of From Clay to Bronze.
